Discovery call

Start with a Discovery Call

Before we quote a project, before we send a spec response, before anything else — we have a 20-minute conversation. No slides, no forced pitch. Just a working discussion about the project, the retailer, the timeline, the quality bar, and whether we're the right partner for the work. If we are, we'll show you how. If we're not, we'll tell you honestly — and, when we can, point you to someone who is.

Discovery call in progress at Able Solutions — a working conversation, not a pitch

Why the call comes first

Contract packaging decisions are consequential. Getting them wrong is expensive — in unit cost, in retailer chargebacks, in launch delays, in rework, in reputation. Getting them right requires a partner who understands what the project is actually solving for, not just what the spec sheet says.

We only take on one or two Hollister-complexity brands at a time. That's not a marketing line — it's how we protect the quality we've promised the clients we already have. A discovery call is how we protect your project the same way.

What to expect on the call

Length

20 to 30 minutes. If we need more time, we'll schedule a follow-up.

Who's on the call from Able

Pete Piete (operator, chief salesperson) — occasionally joined by an operations lead when the project has specific flow, compliance, or line-design questions.

What we'll ask

  • What's the product, and what problem is the packaging solving for?
  • What retailer, regulator, or channel is the packaging serving? Who defines "compliant"?
  • What's the timeline — and what's driving it?
  • What does "quality" look like from the customer's perspective, and from the regulator's?
  • Where is the current process breaking down — or where do you expect it to?
  • What have you already tried?
  • What's your definition of a successful engagement six months from now?

What we'll share

  • An honest read on whether we're the right fit for the project.
  • Where our floor and our team add value versus where a different partner would serve you better.
  • What the next step looks like if we move forward.
  • Referrals from our concierge network when we're not the right fit but we know someone who is.

Is Able the right fit?

You're likely a strong fit if:

  • Your project has real complexity — multi-component assembly, retailer-specific configurations, aggressive timelines, quality documentation requirements.
  • You care about total cost of ownership — quality, compliance, avoided rework, retailer chargebacks — not just cents per unit.
  • Your existing packaging path can't flex fast enough for what the product actually requires.
  • You value working with a mission-driven partner and can tell that story to your own customers.
  • You're moving into Amazon-ready (FFP / SIOC / APASS-aligned) packaging.

We're probably not the right fit if:

  • You need a fully automated, single-SKU line running millions of units at the lowest possible unit cost.
  • Unit price is your only decision criterion.
  • You need ultra-small one-off runs with no expectation of ongoing work.
  • You need primary manufacturing (filling, forming, cooking, molding) — we are a secondary packaging, assembly, and kitting partner.

If we're not the right fit, that's okay — and we'll say so on the call.

Contract packaging fit checklist for prospective Able Solutions customers

A short story about what we listen for

A global medical device manufacturer came to us with what looked like a labeling problem. A five-cent label was gating their throughput on a high-volume line. The obvious answer was "run the label faster." The real answer was that the label wasn't the constraint — the wait behind the label was. We heard that on the first call, walked through the line, and redesigned the flow to eliminate the wait. That customer is still with us today.

Discovery calls are where those stories start.

What happens after the call

If we're a fit:

we set up a site visit, a spec review, or a small pilot — whichever makes sense for the project.

If we're not a fit:

we tell you, and when we can, we refer you to someone in our concierge network who is.

If we're not sure yet:

we set a follow-up with the specific questions we need answered to know.

There is no auto-quote, no pushed proposal, no follow-up sequence you have to unsubscribe from.
